Abstract:

The article sketches the current models and developmental conceptions of modern academic libraries. It presents a continuous need of library's existence and evolution as a real place and the dynamics of its electronic space development, based on the applicability of modern technologies, and the directions of the aforementioned transformations. The two spaces are proven to intermingle, complement and cooperate, thus constructing a hybrid model of library. Against such background a general vision of Wrocław University Library in its new location is delivered, as well as the currently applied solutions based on wide applicability of information and telecommunication technologies and on digital media.
