Abstract:

In 1950–1956, the Presidium of the Provincial National Council was the highest state administration body in the province. During the Presidium meetings many issues related to social life were discussed, including the issue of law enforcement. An analysis of the minutes of the Presidium of the Provincial National Council in Zielona Góra indicates that crime was a huge problem in the province. Stealing and hooliganism were a social scourge. State police officers were poorly trained and not very effective in fighting criminals.
