Silesian Quarterly Historical Journal “Sobótka” [Śląski Kwartalnik Historyczny „Sobótka”] has been published in Wrocław since 1946 – initially as a semiannual periodical and a yearbook with the title “Sobótka”, and since 1957 quarterly, with the current title. It is among the oldest regional scholarly journals in the field of history in Poland and a significant element of Polish humanities. “Sobótka” is considered one of the most important periodicals concerning Silesian studies, but the editorial team remains open also to material from other thematic fields. The journal serves for presentation of research on history of Central and Eastern Europe, with a special focus on Silesia and neighboring regions and countries, as well as on regional history. For several years, its publisher was the Wrocław Society of History Enthusiasts [Wrocławskie Towarzystwo Miłośników Historii], i.e. the Branch of the Polish Historical Society [Polskie Towarzystwo Historyczne]; currently, the journal is published under the auspices of the University of Wrocław.  

Śląski Kwartalnik Historyczny „Sobótka” wydawany jest we Wrocławiu od 1946 r., początkowo jako półrocznik i rocznik pod tytułem „Sobótka”, a od roku 1957 jako kwartalnik pod obecnym tytułem. Należy do najstarszych w Polsce regionalnych czasopism naukowych o profilu historycznym, pozostając ważnym elementem polskiej humanistyki. Uchodzi za jeden z najważniejszych periodyków śląskoznawczych, ale jego łamy pozostają otwarte również na materiały o innym zakresie tematycznym. Służy prezentacji wyników badań nad dziejami Europy Środkowo-Wschodniej – ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem Śląska, sąsiednich regionów i krajów, zarazem refleksji nt. dziejów regionalnych. Przez wiele lat pismo znajdowało się w gestii Wrocławskiego Towarzystwa Miłośników Historii (oddziału Polskiego Towarzystwa Historycznego), obecnie ukazuje się pod auspicjami Uniwersytetu Wrocławskiego.

Abstract:

The article discusses selected aspects of the functioning of the Poznań and Kalisz Provincial Assembly in Środa in the times of Władysław IV (1633–1648). Such issues are addressed as the manner of convening the Assembly, its location and duration, as well as the participants of the sessions. The types and functions of the Assemblies and the preserved documentation are discussed and briefly described. The final element is an analysis of problems related to the functioning of the Assembly were analysed, which in the period under discussion were relatively few – the calm and peaceful reign of Władysław IV was conducive to political stability.  

Artykuł omawia wybrane elementy w funkcjonowaniu sejmiku województw poznańskiego i kaliskiego w Środzie w czasach Władysława IV (1633–1648). Tematem rozważań jest między innymi sposób zwoływania sejmiku, jego miejsce obrad i czas trwania, a także uczestnicy zjazdów. Omówiono i zwięźle scharakteryzowano rodzaje i funkcje sejmików oraz zachowaną dokumentację. Jako ostatni element zanalizowano problemy związane z funkcjonowaniem sejmiku, których w omawianych czasach nie było wiele – spokojne i pokojowe czasy panowania Władysława IV sprzyjały stabilizacji politycznej.
