Abstract:

The article presents the evolution of the concept of cultural property in public international law from the protection focused solely on tangible cultural property during armed conflict to preservation of intangible cultural heritage. The analysis of the development is based on the UNESCO conventions and identifies factors that have influenced the gradual broadening of the notion.
