  The article describes the issue of parentification, i.e. the child undertaking tasks belonging to adults. As a result of changing roles in the family, the child sacrifices its own needs for the instrumental and emotional needs of the parent. Parentified children have to cope, not only with duties exceeding their normal abilities, but also in adult life they experience the effects of role reversal in the family.

  W artykule opisano problematykę parentyfikacji, czyli podejmowania przez dziecko zadań przynależnych osobom dorosłym. W wyniku zamiany ról w rodzinie dziecko poświęca własne potrzeby na rzecz instrumentalnych i emocjonalnych potrzeb rodzica. Dzieci poddane parentyfikacji nie dość, że muszą radzić sobie z obowiązkami przekraczającymi ich możliwości, to na dodatek w życiu dorosłym doświadczają skutków odwrócenia ról w rodzinie.
