Emerging interdisciplinary research treat animals seriously and reject anthropocentric perspective. The paper traces development within ethnographic research: from human- concentrated analysis of human- animal relationships to attempts to \u201cspeak on behalf of animals\u201d. Kinesthetic empathy (Shapiro), reconciliation of ethology and ethnographic reflexivity (Birke) provide interesting examples of emerging research approaches.
