Examining the bones from cremated graves (in particular from the graves of children) it was found that it is possible to select permanent crown buds, on which non-metrical features of teeth used in studies of human biological variation can be described. According to many authors, the phenotypic variability of non-metrical dental traits can be used to analyze the biological diversity of individuals and populations. The non-metrical dental traits show a high degree of genetic determination. Interpersonal and inter-group variability of these traits is not affected by age at the time of death and the sex of individuals. The results of research by different authors prove that non-metrical dental traits are a good research tool in analyzing the biological diversity of human groups in prehistory, in historical times and contemporary populations. They can also be used in studies of biological variability of human populations, after which only cremation burials remain.
