They involved identification of macro- and microtraces formed on the object during its manufacturing process and later use. The results of the use-wear analysis were supplemented by input from a series of experiments. They helped in reconstructing the history of the artefact, starting from the deliberate selection of its raw material, preparation of the necessary tools and the antler itself for working, the manufacturing process, and finally, the apparently extended use-life.
