At the Second Vatican Council (1962\u20131965), the Catholic Church spoke on democracy and cultural and theological pluralism. Decisive are two concepts used by the pope who called the Council. John XXIII spoke of the need for aggiornamento, the need to adapt the doctrine and practice of the Church to the changing conditions in which Catholics live, and the ability to read the signs of the times, the challenges facing the Church. One of the most important determinants of this new attitude was the change to other religions. Paradigmatic for this new attitude turned out to be two conciliar statements. One about religious freedom \u2013 Dignitatis Humanae, which centered on human dignity and freedom of conscience, and the other on the relationship of Catholicism to other religions \u2013 Nostra aetate, in which for the first time in history the Church has responded positively to other ways to God. Both documents were, not without reason, called the Copernican Revolution of Catholic theology. The aim of this article is to present this change and its implications for Catholicism itself."],"pl":["W teologii katolickiej przez wieki dominował paradygmat ekskluzji, czyli przekonanie, że tylko przynależność do Kościoła katolickiego gwarantuje zabawienie. Na Soborze Watykańskim II (1962\u20131965) Kościół katolicki zabrał głos w sprawie demokracji oraz pluralizmu kulturowego i teologicznego. Decydujące są dwa pojęcia użyte przez papieża, który zwołał Sobór. Jan XXIII mówił o potrzebie aggiornamento, czyli o konieczności dostosowania doktryny i praktyki Kościoła do zmieniających się warunków, w jakich żyją katolicy, oraz o umiejętności odczytywania znaków czasu, czyli wyzwań stojących przed Kościołem. Jednym z najważniejszych wyznaczników tej nowej postawy była zmiana wobec innych religii. Paradygmatyczne dla tej nowej postawy okazały się dwie deklaracje soborowe. Jedna o wolności religijnej Dignitatis Humanie, która w centrum postawiła godność człowieka i wolność sumienia, a druga o stosunku katolicyzmu do innych religii, Nostra aetate, w której po raz pierwszy w historii Kościół odniósł się pozytywnie do innych dróg do Boga. Oba dokumenty nie bez racji nazwano przewrotem kopernikańskim teologii katolickiej.
