There is no doubt that, given the nature of criminal procedure, an entity cannot be left \u201cto fend for oneself\u201d. In the article the author emphasises the importance of the obligation to inform the participants of the criminal proceedings of their rights and obligations by the authorities of the trial (judge or prosecutor). Consideration is also given to the increase of the scope of information which participants in the criminal proceedings get form the authorities of the trial. Finally, the author points out that the obligation to inform the entity of their rights and obligations in the criminal proceedings also can be considered as an act of loyalty in the criminal procedure."],"pl":["Autorka analizuje, w jakim stopniu rzymska zasada, zgodnie z którą każdy ponosi negatywne konsekwencje nieznajomości prawa, obowiązywała w postępowaniu karnym, począwszy od kodeksu postępowania karnego z 1928 r. do obecnych regulacji. Nie ulega wątpliwości, że z uwagi na charakter procesu karnego jego uczestnicy nie mogą zostać całkowicie pozostawieni \u201esami sobie\u201d. W artykule podkreśla się znaczenie obowiązku informowania uczestników postępowania karnego o ich prawach i obowiązkach przez organy procesowe. Zwraca się również uwagę na stopniowe rozszerzanie zakresu informacji, którą otrzymują osoby biorące udział w procesie.
