Eine der brennenden Aufgaben war die Polonisierung der Nomenklatur. Die Änderungen führte man langsam ein, es war zwar möglich, mehrere Namen zu übersetzen, aber die Dämonen des Krieges drangen auf die Beseitigung des Deutschen. In der Arbeit wurden die erhaltenen Rechtsakte aus dem Jahr 1945 über die Änderung der deutschen Namen von Straßen, Plätzen und Brücken in Wrocław besprochen. Sie fokussiert auf die Gestalt des Juristen Andrzej Jochelson. In der Sammlung von Unterlagen, die Andrzej Jochelson hinterlassen hat, befindet sich ein kostbares Manuskript. In dem Manuskript sind Änderungen der Namen in der ganzen Stadt bearbeitet worden. Zu untersuchen bleibt, inwiefern die Vorschläge umgesetzt. Jochelson selbst, als jahrelanger Vorsitzender der Kommission der Straßennamen bei der Gesellschaft der Freunde der Stadt Wrocław [Towarzystwo Miłośników Wrocławia] beteiligte sich bis zum Tode an den Arbeiten betreffend Namen. Im Jahre 1945 wurden 552 Namen geändert, weniger als Hälfte davon (248) stellen Fortsetzungen dar, die zu vier Umbenennungstypen gehören: Übersetzungen, Wiedereinsetzung alter Namen, Einführung von Namen, die mit der Lokalisierung der Straßen verbunden sind und Ersetzen einer deutschen Führungsperson durch eine polnische derselben Epoche. Während der Regierungszeit der PPS (Polnische Sozialistische Partei) in der Stadt bevorzugte man die linksorientierten, dem Klima der SPD und der Weimarer Republik entsprechenden Namen. Die Nachkriegsnamensänderungen betrafen insbesondere die nördlichen und östlichen, wenig zerstörten Stadtteile. In 1945, the Polonization of names was one of the most important undertakings. The changes were applied slowly (perhaps more names could have been translated), but demons of war dictated that Germanness should be erased. The research describes preserved legal acts from 1945, concerning the process of changing the names of German streets, squares and bridges in Wrocław. The study focuses on the figure of the lawyer Andrzej Jochelson. I have never asked Jochelson (the initiator of streets\u2019 naming alteration) why, as a pioneer, he decided to focus on the Polonization of local naming. Jochelson was involved in this process until his death as a long-term head of the Committee of Street Naming of the Society of Wrocław Enthusiasts.
