For each accused involved in judicial proceedings conducted in an unfamiliar language, above all, this service is the foundation for the rights of defense.The purpose of this article is to present key issues related to the right to take advantage of the free assistance of an interpreter in criminal proceedings. In the first part, the author outlines the circle of persons to whom the analyzed permission is granted. Secondly, the scope of activities that require the participation of an interpreter is discussed.
