The cohort of analysed heroines includes symbols of feminine power and fierce independence (like Śakti, Durgā, Maitreyī, Āmrapālī or Draupadī) and ideals of submissiveness, faithfulness and obedience (e.g. Sītā, Damayantī, Sāvitrī or Sātī).
