This kind of monuments represents both: memory of victims and first global conflict. The paper presents a history of former German memory places in Jelenia Góra, Lower Silesia, which has been polish town since 1945. After the post-war border changes that region has belonged to Poland. In that time, not only politics influenced on the attitude towards German heritage. Also society was against a cultural landscape of cities, towns and villages. This text consist of many microhistories of memorials which had been destroyed and, in some cases, explored, recently renewed by Poles.
