• Abstract:
  
  
  Changes resulting from the education process aim at shaping not only knowledge and skills, but also social competences, which are to facilitate functioning in complex reality. Despite the lack of clear-cut definition of the concept, several perspectives on the topic can be found in literature. Social competences are viewed from many angles, to mention the context of pedagogy, psychology, sociology, politics and philosophy. Looking at the concept from the philosophical point of view, deliberations about the utopian character of social competences that are shaped and improved throughout life are especially interesting. „Utopia building is utterly natural for homo sapiens. From the very beginning of thought, planning, looking into the future and attempts at mental modelling of situations have characterised people”.

  Złożoność procesów, jakie występują w świecie, stawiają przed współczesnym człowiekiem nowe wyzwania. By im sprostać, jednostka musi być wyposażona w trakcie procesu kształcenia w odpowiednie kompetencje społeczne. Pojęcie kompetencji społecznych rozpatrywane jest wieloaspektowo – w kontekście pedagogicznym, psychologicznym, socjologicznym, politycznym oraz filozoficznym. Rozpatrując to pojęcie w kontekście filozoficznym, na uwagę zasługuje temat utopijnego charakteru kompetencji społecznych, kształtowanych i doskonalonych przez jednostkę przez całe jej życie. „Tworzenie utopii jest całkowicie naturalne dla gatunku homo sapiens. Przecież planowanie, wybieganie w przyszłość, próby myślowego modelowania sytuacji charakteryzują człowieka od początku jego myślenia”.
