  The submitted monograph introduces a Polish reader for the first time to Rudolf Otto's treatise entitled "Kantisch-Fries'sche Religionsphilosophie und ihre Anwendung auf die Theologie" (1909). It consists of two main parts. The first part is a comprehensive introduction entitled 'In search of a religious a priori. An introduction to reading', while the second part contains a Polish translation of the most important parts of Otto's dissertation. The dissertation that is the subject of this monograph was an important stage in the formation of Rudolf Otto's research perspective; it played an important role in the emergence of Otto's seminal work 'Holiness'. The monograph presented in Polish is an extension of Polish research into the philosophy of both Rudolf Otto and Jakob Friedrich Fries, whose thought is the subject of Otto's dissertation. Fries, being Kant's ideological heir, attempted to purge Kantian philosophy of the misunderstandings he had identified. Therefore, the dissertation presented here is also an important contribution to the study of the reception of Immanuel Kant's philosophy and the tradition of critical philosophy he initiated.

  Monografia przybliża po raz pierwszy polskiemu czytelnikowi rozprawę Rudolfa Otto o tytule brzmiącym w oryginale "Kantisch-Fries’sche Religionsphilosophie und ihre Anwendung auf die Theologie" (1909). Składa się z dwóch zasadniczych części. Pierwsza część to obszerne wprowadzenie zatytułowane „W poszukiwaniu religijnego a priori. Wprowadzenie do lektury”, druga część natomiast zawiera przekład na język polski najważniejszych części rozprawy Otto. Rozprawa będąca przedmiotem monografii była ważnym etapem w kształtowaniu się perspektywy badawczej Rudolfa Otto; odegrała istotną rolę dla powstania zasadniczego dzieła Otto jakim jest „Świętość”. Prezentowana w języku polskim monografia stanowi poszerzenie polskich badań nad filozofią zarówno Rudolfa Otto, jak i Jakoba Friedricha Friesa, którego myśl stanowi przedmiot rozprawy Otto. Fries, będąc ideowym spadkobiercą Kanta, usiłował oczyścić filozofię Kantowską ze stwierdzonych przez niego nieporozumień. Dlatego też, prezentowana rozprawa stanowi także istotny wkład w badania nad recepcją filozofii Immanuela Kanta oraz zapoczątkowaną przez niego tradycją filozofii krytycznej.
