  The method of Emil Jaques-Dalcroze and his pedagogical ideas are in line with the assumptions of progressive pedagogy. Usually only the elements of the method related to the child’s musical development are analysed. The essence of rhythmics, however, is to focus on holistic development, including creating favourable conditions for the development of emotionality and individualism, as well as the possibility of experiencing the world in its complexity, not only in terms of music. Similar assumptions can be found in the pedagogical thought of Janusz Korczak, who emphasized the subjectivity of children, including their natural right to feel and express emotions. The common areas of both pedagogical lines of thought, which will constitute the axis ofcomparative analysis, are the subjectivity of the child in the world of adults and in the world of art, care for harmonious development, the freedom to learn through the child’sown experience.

  Metoda Emila Jaques-Dalcroze’a i jego idee pedagogiczne są zgodne z założeniami pedagogiki Nowego Wychowania. Zazwyczaj analizowane są tylko te elementy metody związane z rozwojem muzycznym dziecka. Istotą rytmiki jest jednak koncentracja na całościowym rozwoju, w tym tworzeniu sprzyjających warunków do rozwoju emocjonalności i indywidualizmu, a także możliwości doświadczania świata w jego złożoności, nie tylko muzycznej. Podobne założenia można odnaleźć w myśli pedagogicznej Janusza Korczaka, który podkreślał podmiotowość dzieci, w tym ich naturalne prawo do odczuwania i wyrażania emocji. Wspólnymi obszarami obu pedagogicznych linii myślowych, stanowiących oś analizy porównawczej, są podmiotowość dziecka w świecie dorosłych i w świecie sztuki, troska o harmonijny rozwój, wolność uczenia się poprzez własne doświadczenie dziecka.
