Conservatism : structural and political issues by Adolf Maria Bocheński

Abstract:

Adolf Maria Bochenski is an outstanding journalist and writer of the young generation in the interwar period. His brilliant writings about historical and political issues related constitutional and political system, as well as issues of Polish foreign policy and raison d'état. Bochenski expressed the view that Soviet Russia is the most dangerous enemy of the Republic of Poland. He was one of thinkers of the Second Republic of Poland, who were looking for a chance to lessen influence of the Soviet Union. He thought that the creation independent nations states (oppressed by the Bolsheviks) between Poland and Russia, first of all Ukraine, will be the best way to achieve it. He took part in passionate debate with nationalists and was an opponent of forced assimilation of Ukrainians. He believed that more liberal policy towards national minorities and attempt to integrate them with the Polish state would bring more benefits - he saw the opportunity to create a federal model of the state of the Republic of Poland and the Ukraine. All issues raised in political writings of Bocheński are included in the concept of "Polish imperial idea"
