Abstract:

The aim of this study is to identify the legal basis for cooperation of local governments (communities) with non-governmental organizations, focused on the status and the role of municipalities in this area. There were discussed issues directly related to the concept of the community, its political system, as well as a particularly important position in the context of cooperation with the third sector authorities (NGOs). Moreover, the subject of detailed analysis has been subjected to the institution called ,,citizens' initiative”, as one of the form of cooperation on the basis of the citizens themselves with non-governmental organizations to achieve a common goal of the project for the benefit of the local community
