Subject and Keywords:

Abstract:

The main purpose of the research was to find out the situation related to the social functioning of women with physical disabilities and the perception of their disability. The study was conducted in 2014 in Lubuskie; it included 92 women with disabilities. These were women with reduced mobility. Research was carried out individually and consisted of completing a questionnaire. I used the method of in-depth interview and questionnaire interview. The resulting material was then analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively by myself. I chose to analyze some questions relevant to the context of measures taken in the article. The concept of social marking was applied to explain the attitudes adopted towards people with disabilities. Current attitudes exhibited towards women with disabilities and the perception of their disability are the result of many years of treating them as the dregs of society and denying them their right to a normal social life. The main limitations in the functioning of these people are not related to the lack of physical fitness, but are a reaction of the social environment on disability and how it is perceived.
