Abstract:

The article was devoted to the issue of parliamentary elections in New Zealand. First of all, the specificity of the political system of that country and the constitutional approach to the principle of political representation were presented. Then tere was a concise description of the electoral system in the elections to the House of Representatives. Particular attention was paid to the reform of the electoral law in 1993, and in particular to the adoption of a mixed system for determining the results of the vote. Against this background, the influence of the new institutions of the electoral system on the distribution of political forces in the New Zealand parliament was shown.  

Artykuł poświęcony został problematyce wyborów parlamentarnych w Nowej Zelandii. W pierwszej kolejności ukazana została specyfika ustroju politycznego tego państwa oraz konstytucyjne ujęcie zasady reprezentacji politycznej. Następnie znalazła się zwięzła charakterystyka systemu wyborczego w wyborach do Izby Reprezentantów. Szczególną uwagę zwrócono tu na reformę prawa wyborczego w 1993 roku, a zwłaszcza na przyjęcie mieszanego systemu ustalania wyników głosowania. Na tym tle ukazany został wpływ nowych instytucji systemu wyborczego na układ sił politycznych w parlamencie Nowej Zelandii.
