Abstract:

Slow Down, Professor — On Societal Significance of Slow Constitutional EducationIn this paper, I would like to suggest that attention should be paid to the relation between constitutional education, particularly on an academic level, and the modern authoritarianism’s ability to gain electoral legitimacy. The large-scale character of Polish legal education and its organization mean that constitutional law scholars share responsibility for educating good citizens. However, this need clashes with the corporate university phenomenon. Referring to “The Slow Professor” by M. Berg and B.K. Seeber and my teaching experience I point to the necessity of opposing this phenomenon and of providing slow constitutional education.
