Abstract:

The article includes the analysis of psychological and developmental consequences of daily reading to children. On the basis of the results of statistical analysis it outlines contemporary difficulties with reading books by adults – both to themselves and to children. The results of the research indicate that daily reading books to children from the early age helps to develop proper speech as well as listening and reading comprehension skills. It also contributes to remembering details of content they have heard, expressing their own judgments and providing arguments for their opinions. Moreover, it affects the ability to calm down and the growth of children’s attention, motivation to action along with cause-and-effect thinking.
