Abstract:

The article addressed the problem of a rapidly aging population resulting from the lengthening of human life. Phenomenon of socio-cultural animation covered in the text becomes helpful in relieving the effects of the progressing demographic changes. Activity in social, intellectual and physical areas tailored to the needs of seniors and the independence allowing the elderly to take care of their own lives are elements of an animator’s work and socio-cultural institutions, whose purpose is development of leisure time, reduction of marginalization and improvement of the elderly’ life quality.
