Abstract:

The content of the article shows the attitude to the child and his childhood in the difficult living conditions of Polish family in the postwar period (1945–1948). Referring to the concept of the environment and the community used in social pedagogy, an attempt to look at the categories of home and family from two perspectives, i.e. the home as a living environment (i.e. a space of material and living conditions and social one) and on the family as mental and spiritual community. Using this approach, an analysis of biographical memories of the 60s and 70s, gathered mostly as competition materials, was done. In practical terms it was about finding the answer to the question: What family activities can best help your child to create a secure childhood in very difficult existential conditions?
