The article portraits the basic concepts of taoism contrasting it with a dualistic approach of contemporary western religious education – both in a methodological and material dimension. Nature as a fundamental paradigm leads here towards harmony, dynamism, variability, periodicity through which the world is viewed. Especially the category of wu wei and its paradoxical character is analyzed in the article – non-doing does not mean passivity but an action that is harmonized with Tao – the natural way things happen. This perspective allows an attitude of calm, goodwill and distance towards demands of culture of competition and rush.
