Abstract:

The author of this article endeavors to conduct an analysis of the depiction of violence in comic books. In the article, special attention is drawn to how violence has been portrayed in comic books over the years and how the depiction of violence has evolved due to the changes in the rules governing the comic book industry; examples of specific and industry-changing titles are provided. Furthermore, the author attempts to provide both an explanation and a purpose for including different types of violence in comic books. The author aims to indicate that the existence of depictions of violence in comic books is not only justified, but serves a specific purpose and is necessary to presenting the story in its intended form
