Abstract:

The article concerns legal solutions and organizational measures adopted to eliminate the threats that influence the sense of personal security of convicts. In practice, it is impossible to indicate all the sources of danger, mainly due to their considerable number. Their nature is not homogenous, and their intensity and scope of impact may vary substantially. Traditionally, the phenomena and situations that pose risks to personal security include: prison subculture, the process of prisonization, intended and unintended acts or omissions of the prison administration, and the activity of criminal organizations inside and outside penal institutions. The most drastic examples of threats to incarcerated persons’ personal security are cases of physical and psychological abuse typified as offences under Article 247 of the Penal Code
