Abstract:

An (un)known land – this ambiguous expression has been chosen to conclude in-depth interviews carried out with the organizers of culture in Wrocław after the European Capital of Culture 2016 terminated. The informants were employees of the municipal cultural institutions as well as people linked to grass-root organizations. The main purpose of the research was to determine whether (and if so, how) the year of the European Capital of Culture influenced the phenomenon of participation in culture and functioning of cultural institutions in the city. These goals were only partly achieved. The report presents main conclusions from the research and explains the reasons for the limitations of the study.
