Abstract:

The subject of this paper is an analysis of Poland’s and Germany’s preferences and interests towards the European Union’s (EU) energy policy. However the main purpose was to answer the question whether in the area of supranationalied EU’s energy policy the cooperative tendencies are predominant over the rivalry mechanisms. The special focus has been given to the action undertaken by Poland and Germany within the European system. In the course of the argument, the main hypothesis has been verify. The hypostasis has been define as follow: different geopolitical and geo-economic circumstances of energy security in Poland and in Germany hinder the effective Polish-German cooperation in the development of supranational, Europeanized EU energy policy. In the process of hypothesis verification, the liberal theory of intergovernmentalism has been used. The time-frame for following analysis has been set for the years 2009-2016.
