The book ”Architecture, style and structure in the Early Iron Age in Central Europe ” is a study of the relations between construction and products of materiał culture and the ways of world perception by prehistorie communities. These issues are part of so-called cognitive archaeology. At this angle were analysed sequences of archaeological cultures in subsequent chronological periods in Central Europe. There were considered the Hallstatt period, the La Tene period, the Roman influence period and the Migration period. Metrological analysis of buildings’ remains has been made and showed the use of repetitive units of measure. It allowed for a relatively accurate determination of the ways in which the buildings were laid out. Similar rules of spatial organization have also been used in the construction of ornaments on pottery and objects of everyday use. The applied research procedure allowed to recognize architecture and style changes in subsequent chronological periods. While the analyses concerning the ideology allowed to understand the intellectual grounds of these changes. In territorial terms this work will focus broadly on areas of Central Europe - between the Rhine and the Vistula Rivers as well as the Baltic Sea and the Danube. However, as the author is most familiar with the territory of Poland and especially that of Lower Silesia, the archaeological sites from this region will be most frequently analysed.
