A body of one’s own – efficiency of sexual and reproductive rights in the Polish legal system

Abstract:

This article is concerned with the concept of sexual and reproductive rights proclaimed in 2002 by the World Association for Sexual Health. The Declaration of Sexual Rights considers sexual and reproductive rights as human rights, equal for both men and women. The article analyses sexual and reproductive rights functioning in the Polish legal system and society. The main goal of this article is to present efficiency of the implemented law and legal institutions in the field of women’s sexual and reproductive rights in Poland. At the same time, the author presents main causes of failures and stereotypes concerning sexual safety, privacy, equality, information, education and conscious parenting. In the conclusion of the research, the author proves that women’s sexual rights in Poland are limited.
