Abstract:

The phenomenon of popular culture in the Middle East continues to be a new subject that has not yet drawn much interest among the experts on and scholars of Islam. However, globalization and the ensuing global dissemination of products are becoming inevitable facts, which even the most conservative circles – including those that are Muslim – have to face. The article is a review of the first book on the Polish book market devoted entirely to the issue of popular culture, entitled Kultura popularna na Bliskim Wschodzie (Popular Culture in the Middle East)
