Abstract:

The article concerns irregularities in the field of issuing concessions for broadcasting television programmes by the Chairman of the National Broadcasting Council. Pathological phenomena discussed in it concern attempts to locate the activities of entrepreneurs who are critical of the political power in Poland. Among other elements, the paper analyzes activities related to the unlawful blocking of the extension of the concession and the project of introducing juridical solutions that would prevent the performance of economic activity by specific entities already operating on the media market in Poland. The indicated problem is extremely important from the point of view of the basic principles of a democratic state ruled by law. The desire to eliminate the media independent of the government may be a kind of temptation for those in power, the occurrence of which leads to failure to comply with the principles of democracy.
