Abstract:

The source book is a collection of 39 speeches delivered by seven (out of eight) female representatives at plenary sittings of the Legislative Assembly of the Republic of Poland between 1919 and 1922. The speeches were delivered by: Gabriela Balicka, Jadwiga Dziubińska, Irena Kosmowska, Maria Moczydłowska, Zofia Moraczewska, Zofia Sokolnicka i Franciszka Wilczkowiakowa. They were the first female parliamentarians to gain parliamentary seats after women were granted the right to vote and to be elected in Poland. The speeches have been placed in the collection in chronological order. The primary sources are preceded by an introduction in which the editor presents the political background of the analysed term of the Legislative Assembly, the role of women in the electoral campaign of 1919 and the themes of the speeches made in parliament by female MPs. The work is concluded with a reference to the most important scientific and popular publications on the activity of the first Polish female MPs between 1919 and 1922.
