This book was written on the initiative of the students of Professor Herbert Szurgacz, Professor Emeritus of the University of Wrocław and retired Supreme Court Judge, to celebrate His 80th birthday. The book is a collection of papers written by eminent specialists in labour and social law - both representatives of the world of science representing various research centres and practitioners (including Supreme Court judges), who accepted the invitation to co-author the book. The publication consists of two parts. The first part, containing a total of 23 texts, is devoted to labour law issues; the second part contains 9 texts on social law issues. The subject matter of the individual papers varies, but is related to the Jubilarian's scientific interests. They refer to historical and developmental aspects of labour law and social law, current problems occurring in those branches of law, as well as challenges they face due to ongoing technological and social changes.
