Abstract:

The text deals with the subject of the Generalized System of Preferences, operating on the basis of the decision of the GATT Council of June 25, 1971, focusing on the characteristics of the systems used by developed and developing countries in relation to the least developed countries. The issue has been described comprehensively, including the history of the system implementation and its essence. In addition, the author has attempted to assess the effectiveness of the system as it stands and consider whether GSP and other unilateral tariff preferences actually contribute to promoting exports from beneficiary countries. The topic raises hardly explored issues in the field of current international economic law.
