Abstract:

The Arab Spring, which began in one of the world's most politically and culturally static regions, was a big surprise for the international community, and its wide reach and dynamic course aroused a number of hopes and fears. It was hoped that the political and law systems of Arab and Muslim countries would become more democratic and that the living conditions of the people living in them would improve. On the other hand, it was feared the spread of fundamentalist ideologies and destruction of the hard-to-build social order. Tunisia, as the country where the cactus-jasmine revolution began, which was a prelude to changes in other countries, is a particularly interesting area to verify the aforementioned views and concerns.  

Arabska wiosna, która swój początek miała w jednym z najbardziej spetryfikowanych politycznie i kulturowo regionów świata, była sporym zaskoczeniem dla społeczności międzynarodowej, a jej szeroki zasięg oraz dynamiczny przebieg wzbudził szereg nadziei i obaw. Liczono na zdemokratyzowanie systemów polityczno-prawnych krajów arabskich i muzułmańskich oraz poprawę warunków bytowych ludzi w nich żyjących. Obawiano się natomiast rozprzestrzenienia się fundamentalistycznych ideologii i destrukcji z trudem budowanego ładu społecznego. Tunezja, jako kraj, w którym swój początek miała rewolucja kaktusowo-jaśminowa stanowiąca preludium do przemian w innych krajach, jest szczególnie ciekawym obszarem do weryfikacji wspomnianych widoków i niepokojów.
