Abstract:

The aim of the presented study is the analysis of the legal and factual possibilities of recognition of e-sport as a fully-fledged sport in the light of amendments to the Act on Sport of 20 July 2017 and 16 October 2019. The author argues whether the implemented changes significantly affect the legal status of electronic sports and what are the consequences for the e-sports community. Moreover, this work discusses the possibility of creating Polish electronic sports association with an emphasis on the role of the Polish sports association as a legal entity responsible for organization of sports competitions. The author analyzes changes in the regulations of creating Polish sports associations as well as the legal and factual consequences of extending the powers of the Minister of Sport in this matter in the context of e-sport.
