Abstract:

The article presents and analyzes the results of the proprietary qualitative research in which Poles participated in a difficult time of home isolation related to the COVID-19 pandemic prevailing in the world and in the country. The aim of the article is to assess the impact of housing conditions on the quality of life of Poles living in home isolation. Standardized telephone interviews were the tool used to carry out the research. The study covered school-age children, professionally active young adults, parents and the elderly living in two types of residential real estate: single-family houses and flats. Statistics and research on housing conditions in Europe and Poland were reviewed. The second part consists of the results of a survey conducted in May 2020. The author discusses the problems related to the impact of increased stay at home on the well-being of the study participants and contacts with roommates, referring to the housing conditions and features of the property being inhabited, i.e. the standard of the apartment (area, number of rooms, equipment, number of tenants) and its location.
