Abstract:

Any level of local government can be the founding body for a hospital. The public task concerning health care, that the hospital implements, exceeds the territory of a given local government unit and is directed to an undefined circle of beneficiaries. In hospitals, there may appear financial issues, difficult to overcome by a single local government unit. The aim of the article is to examine whether local government units, directly or indirectly, i.e. through entities dependent on them, can mutually support each other in solving financial difficulties of hospitals. The paper uses the dogmatic method of analysing the legal provisions concerning the operation of local government units, municipal companies, and independent public healthcare institutions.
