Abstract:

In the first part of the article, its author, starting from the concepts of terminal lucidity and clairvoyance, characterizes selected ways of predicting the future of Western culture in modernity. This is the starting point for a broad discussion of the prophetic books of Oswald Spengler and Francis Fukuyama, which attempted to determine the future of the West – fall and triumph – in two different periods of modernity.  

W pierwszej części artykułu jego Autor wychodząc od pojęć terminalnego olśnienia i jasnowidzenia, charakteryzuje właściwe nowoczesności wybrane sposoby przepowiadania przyszłości kultury Zachodu. Stanowi to punkt wyjścia do szerokiego omówienia profetycznych książek Oswalda Spenglera oraz Francisa Fukuyamy, pochodzących z dwóch różnych okresów nowoczesności, które to próbowały ustalić przyszłe losy Zachodu: upadek i triumf.
