Subject and Keywords:

Abstract:

Safety is one of the most important needs in human life. It is even more important in case of driving on a road with many dangers for drivers and other road users. In the last few years, an excess of road signs in built-up areas has been increasingly indicated as one of the factors enhancing the danger on the road. The article aims to analyze regulations on road marking, rights and obligations of road traffic authorities and those supervising them. The article presents examples of marking public roads in Poland with the problem of excess signage. After the analysis, possible solutions that could improve the condition of road markings are also proposed. In addition, it would be wrong to assess the problem of excess of road signage only negatively. Therefore, the article also presents circumstances in which "duplication of road signs" would seem justified, or at least not negatively assessed.
