Protection of dignity and the use of means of coercion and firearms in Polish law

Subject and Keywords:

personal dignity   dignity of service   dignity of office   officers’ dignity   protective formations

Abstract:

The article is about protection of various aspects of dignity by entities which are entitled to use the means of coercion and firearms. The use of these means is connected – as a rule – with interference with human rights and freedoms. It may also lead to violations of dignity of persons to whom these measures are applied. For the above mentioned reasons, it is important to analyze legal regulations referring to entities authorized to use the means of coercion and firearms, and to determine whether the protection of dignity was explicitly indicated in these legal regulations, is it sufficient, whether its scope is the same (in the case of various entities) and is there a need to harmonize regulations in this area.
