Abstract:

The culture of Korea is to a large extent determined by the diversity of religions that have settled in both the South and the North of the Korean Penisula. In addition to the followers of the three main religions (Buddhism, Christianity, Confucianism), almost half of Koreans declare atheism. After the end of World War II Korea was divided into two parts: Southern and Northern. Thus, the history of these countries took a completely different course and consequently their culture and denominational structure is different. Thus, when discussing the issue of religion in Korea, this division must be taken into account and considered separately  

Kultura Korei w ogromnym stopniu zdeterminowana jest przez różnorodność wyznań, które zadomowiły się zarówno na Południu, jak i Północy Półwyspu Koreańskiego. Obok wyznawców trzech głównych religii (buddyzm, chrześcijaństwo, konfucjanizm), prawie połowa Koreańczyków deklaruje ateizm. Po zakończeniu II wojny światowej Korea została podzielona na dwie części: Południową i Północną. Zupełnie odmiennie zatem potoczyła się historia tych krajów, a co za tym idzie, inaczej zarysowuje się ich kultura i struktura wyznaniowa. Tak więc, omawiając kwestię religii w Korei trzeba uwzględnić ten podział i rozpatrywać je osobno
