Abstract:

Polish prison facilities exhibit the phenomenon of inmate subculture. Inmate subculture determines the rank of prisoners in their society. It also establishes values and a conventionally accepted code of conduct that are characteristic only among this group of people. This system contributes to the prevalence of prison rules, which every incarcerated individual has to obey.
