TY - GEN A1 - Michalak-Dawidziuk, Joanna PB - Instytut Pedagogiki Uniwersytetu Wrocławskiego N2 - Changes resulting from the education process aim at shaping not only knowledge and skills, but also social competences, which are to facilitate functioning in complex reality. Despite the lack of clear-cut definition of the concept, several perspectives on the topic can be found in literature. Social competences are viewed from many angles, to mention the context of pedagogy, psychology, sociology, politics and philosophy. Looking at the concept from the philosophical point of view, deliberations about the utopian character of social competences that are shaped and improved throughout life are especially interesting. „Utopia building is utterly natural for homo sapiens. From the very beginning of thought, planning, looking into the future and attempts at mental modelling of situations have characterised people”.
