It reconstructs the most important theoretical and methodological assumptions adopted by the doyens of the school and developed in later years by the next generation of researchers. It tries to answer the questions, in which direction the research on political systems was developed in the Wrocław academic centre and what the specificity of this particular school is based on, which - according to the Thomas S. Kuhn's concept of competing schools - makes it possible to distinguish it from other schools. It indicates four fields of this specificity, i.e. (a) theoretical-methodological, (b) thematic, (c) applied and (d) organisational. An integral part of the essay is a preliminary bibliography of the Wrocław School of Political Systems including - in its current version - monographs, textbooks, theses and expert reports.
