At the beginning of the elaboration there is a geographical horizon of the Europeans at the beginning of the 13th century and the influence of the Mongolian invasion on their perception of the Far East peoples presented. Next it is shown, how the emissary of the Pope Innocent IV, monk Giovanni da Pian del Carpine, depicted Mongols in his work, demythologising them and making them just normal people, who can be defeated in a fight. Subsequently Marco Polo provided the Europeans with description of a vision of an astonishing Mongolian empire of Kublai Khan.
