The migrant crisis has become particularly very important after Syrians and other Middle Eastern people have left their homelands due to conflicts. In the face of this situation, many countries in the world are facing the problem of taking in ever-increasing numbers of migrants. This problem has become an issue which is used by many politicians, especially populist ones. Populism has an impact not only on politics, but also on media coverage, which very often translates into the social mood. The article attempts to define populism and show its mechanisms of action. Legal regulations for the protection of migrantsʼ rights and an explanation of the operability of human rights are described. Activities at the civil society level, as well as changing attitudes and shaping public moods are depicted. The aim of the article is to try to answer the question how migrantsʼ rights can be effectively protected against the spread of populism.
